Tlingit, meaning "The People," are divided into Moieties, which means "each of two parts." There is the Eagle moiety and the Raven moiety. We are a matrilineal society, so our moiety is determined by our mothers. To keep the bloodlines separate, we, Tlingit people, must marry the opposite moiety. (Photo of Tommy Joseph carving)
Kiksadi are one of several clans of the Raven moiety. Our clan crest is the Frog. I'll list some others below. The clans and their crests are sacred. I list them here with respect to them.
